here’s a version of the last couple of months.
i’d love to talk to you about any of it and hear what’s new with you. text me, whatsapp me, or send me a love letter here.
this trip had been on my list for more than a year. the internet said madeira was “hawaii in the atlantic”, and to me lisbon always seemed arty, fun, and underrated. brie said we could make a trip work for my birthday. this rocked.
madeira had soaring cliffs, deep valleys, and a million hikes to do on an otherwise pretty small island. you can drive around the whole thing in an afternoon, but once you drive into the mountains there’s weeks of exploring to do. the food was portguese, but rustic. these pictures are from hikes and little day trips we took on the island.
lisbon was everything i hoped, except for the taco bell (see last photo). thrifting, and a sailboat at sunrise courtesy of 🧀 made for a great endcap to the trip.
lessons learned:
- we’re pretty good at the whole ryanair thing now, AMA
- when your partner says “i think i’m getting hungry”, they’re hungry right now. any extemporaneous minutes spent dawdling past this point are hazardous, unwise, and illegal
